Liam Ferguson

Product designer & developer

I design digital products and get them built.

I started out designing and building websites, then spent several years working on B2B ecommerce software. At Thrive, I’ve worked with engineering teams on an employee communications app and its web admin tools, from defining features to reviewing the finished build. I recently moved to Germany and am looking for my next product design role here.

Passwordless sign-in with passkeys

I translated a technically complex authentication change into a short, reassuring flow that works for a broad employee audience.

The challenge

Many employees sign in with personal contact details or an organisation-issued identifier. Password resets created friction for people and support teams alike.

Explaining an unfamiliar idea

The work focused on timing and language: when to offer a passkey, how to explain where it is saved, and how to keep another sign-in route available without undermining confidence.

Safe by default

I designed enrolment, sign-in, cancellation and recovery as one system. Each state makes the next step explicit and leaves a visible fallback when the preferred route is unavailable.
